A THOUSAND WATERFALL, INDONESIA TRAVEL

PLACE AND HISTORY TUMPAK SEWU WATERFALL

In the border of Malang Regency and Lumajang Regency, more precisely in Sidomulyo Village, Pronojiwo Subdistrict, Lumajang Regency, there is a waterfall that originates from the Glidih river upstream of Semeru Mountain. This waterfall has a height of 120 m. although not as high as the Madakaripura waterfall but its beauty is not inferior to the Madakaripura waterfall. This waterfall offers a different exoticism than the other waterfalls, which are some waterfalls that widen to form a semicircular water curtain similar to Niagara Falls on the border of the United States and Kannada.

Tumpak Sewu waterfall comes from the word Tumpak which means collection, Sewu which means Thousand. This thousand can also mean a lot, so it doesn't have to be a thousand. So that the meaning of Tumpak sewu waterfall is a huge collection of waterfalls. There is an interesting story about the discovery of this waterfall. This story begins with the number of young people in the surrounding area who are unemployed. So that the idea arose to look for a good place to be managed into a new tour. From some of the youths a group was formed to look for a place. After some time this Tumpak Sewu waterfall was discovered. But there are several problems, one of which is the access road to the waterfall that passes through the community's salak garden. After going through a meeting of residents whose salak orchards were traversed by the access road, they agreed to provide access roads with compensation funds from the sale of entrance tickets and parking. At the beginning of management, residents were offered to participate in managing but many refused. After crowded many people who want to join but the manager has to close the offer.
